Identity and Self Worth
"We can't ask people to give us something that we believe we are not worth receiving."
Brené Brown

A diminished sense of self rarely appears overnight. It often develops gradually through relationships, life experiences, and the ways we learn to adapt in order to feel safe, accepted, or loved.
These experiences are common, and often times the moment that we seek therapy is the moment we realize we've felt this way for too long, and we want change.
Our sense of identity is shaped by our relationships, life experiences, and the ways we've learned to adapt in order to feel safe and connected. While these adaptations often helped us survive, they can often leave us disconnected from our values, emotions, body, and authentic sense of self. Over time, we may come to believe that we are not enough, that our needs don't matter, or that we must shrink ourselves or our voice to be accepted.
Rather than seeing these patterns as something 'wrong' with you, I view them as meaningful adaptations to your life experiences. Together, we'll approach them with curiosity and compassion, exploring the adaptive strategies have helped to protect you while reconnecting with the parts of you that have always been wise, authentic, and whole. I fundamentally believe that our most core, authentic selves are always somewhere inside of us, weighed down under layers of wounding and chronic survival, and waiting to be uncovered and freed. Can you remember the last time you felt truly, deeply connected to yourself? How your body and mind felt?
My approach is holistic and embodied, integrating the mind, body, and spirit. I also draw from parts work, recognizing that we all carry protective parts, wounded parts, and deeply compassionate, resilient parts. Therapy offers a space for these parts of yourself to be understood and curiously explored rather than judged, allowing greater self-trust, confidence, authenticity, and inner harmony to emerge over time.
As your relationship with yourself deepens, it often becomes easier to make decisions, set healthy boundaries, trust your inner voice, and build relationships that no longer require you to abandon yourself in order to belong. You might realize that it becomes easier and easier to believe that you are intrinsically worthy of love, kindness, compassion, and respect. You might also realize your body is a powerful source of intelligence, wisdom, and intuition, here to support you in navigating life from your deepest, most authentic self.
You deserve to feel at home within yourself. You deserve to be you.
